What is SMBash?
SMBash is not just another business conference. It's a two day, game-changing event specifically tailored for small business owners, searchers, entrepreneurs, medium business owners, and start-up founders. Attending SMBash can significantly impact your business strategy and growth. Let's talk about how!
Mission of SMBash
Core Objectives of SMBash
First of all, at its core SMBash aims to provide a platform where small business owners, searchers, and entrepreneurs can gather together to share valuable insights and practical advice. The event seeks to educate, inspire, and connect individuals who are passionate about growing their businesses. We want to provide top-notch education in a relaxed, camaraderie-driven atmosphere.
Our vision is to empower small business owners by giving them access to a diverse network of experts, influencers, and like-minded individuals. We believe that building meaningful connections and learning from experienced professionals can be the difference between success and stagnation in the competitive business world. At SMBash, our ultimate goal is to provide an avenue for continuous learning, growth, and collaboration.
What Makes SMBash Different?
Sam, Kevin, Chandler, and David work year-round to figure out what will set SMBash apart from other business conferences. Hours are spent contemplating which speakers and panels will bring the most value to attendees. Budget is discussed endlessly, and you will see that reflected in the 2025 ticket price being reduced by a third! We keep our mission in mind as we strive to support the SMB (Small and Medium Business) and ETA (Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition) community through high-quality content, expert advice, and meaningful connections.
A Focus on Small Businesses
Unlike other large-scale events geared towards established corporations or industries, SMBash focuses on content that is applicable to small businesses. SMBs are the backbone of the American economy, contributing significantly to its vibrancy and resilience. These enterprises drive innovation, create job opportunities, and support local communities.
They play a crucial role in economic development by fostering entrepreneurship, providing diverse products and services, and enhancing competition. Each small business relies on agility and ability to adapt quickly to market changes, making them pivotal during economic challenges, underscoring their integral role in maintaining a robust and dynamic economy.
SMBash goes above and beyond to create a unified community for those in the SMB and ETA sectors. Whether you’re a seasoned business operator or a new entrepreneur, SMBash provides resources and networking opportunities that can help you succeed.
Dual-Track Format
One of the standout features of SMBash is its dual-track format. This means that sessions are tailored specifically for either searchers and operators. This approach ensures that attendees can choose sessions most relevant to their needs, maximizing the value they get from the event. At the conference, you can choose to attend whichever track you want, based on your needs. You do not have to stick to one track.
Focus on Actionable Insights
Unlike other business conferences that can be heavy on theory but light on practical advice, SMBash focuses on delivering actionable insights. We do this by inviting speakers and panelists who are in the thick of their SMB and ETA journeys. Last year we had Josh Schultz, Denisse Montenegro & Justin Turner on a panel titled, "The Day After Closing." Each of them were in a different stage of business ownership; they each brought unique perspectives that our attendees could relate to and learn from.
We understand that those on the owner track have different needs. In 2024 the panel "On The Other Side (Post Sale)" led by Mike Botkin and Taylor Wallace, shared with current operators the journey at the end of the road, if selling the business is the objective. Attendees leave with knowledge that they can implement to improve their businesses.
The SMBash Schedule
Wake-up to a Keynote Speaker
Both mornings, SMBash begins with the opportunity to learn from a unique keynote speaker. Starting at nine in the morning, with a plate full of breakfast and a coffee cup next to you, sit back and listen to one of the four keynotes we have lined up.
The keynote speakers at SMBash cover a wide array of relevant topics, from market trends to cutting-edge business strategies. In 2024, we featured a business coach and author, an NFL player, a serial business buyer, and a cannabis industry expert. Talk about variety! By bringing together individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences, we ensure that our attendees walk away with more insights and inspiration than they ever could have imagined.
Panel Discussions
After breakfast and a keynote, attendees divide into separate rooms. No need to stick to one track. Our guests are free to hop from the operator track to the searcher track, deciding which focus area is the most pertinent to their current needs. There are two morning sessions and two in the afternoon. No matter which panels you attend, our guest speakers offer attendees balanced views and practical advice.
High-Caliber Keynotes
SMBash boasts a lineup of high-caliber keynote speakers. These industry leaders share their knowledge and experience, providing attendees with invaluable insights. Small to medium businesses require the owner to know how every piece of their operation works. Listening to individuals who have been through the process minimizes the surprises that a new business owner might face.
Interactivity is also a key component of SMBash. The event includes various breakout sessions designed to encourage discussions, trouble-shoot problems, and minimize fear of the unknown. This format allows for deeper dives into specific topics and fosters a more engaging experience.
Networking Opportunities
Before, in-between, and after the educational content, networking is a key component of the SMBash experience. Attendees have numerous opportunities to build connections and join a community of like-minded professionals. Sure, there are the typical happy hours and coffee breaks, but because the folks that attend SMBash are serious about searching and owning these interactions often lead to collaborations and partnerships that benefit all parties involved.
